New industry code
A new industry code, SNI 2007, was introduced into Sweden’s short-term (monthly) salary statistics on in 2009.
As a result, the service sector is now more finely subdivided than previously. In some cases the introduction of the new code also caused a break in reported series, since extensive reclassification was involved in certain specific areas, including those dealing with information, communications and the environment.
The new classifications were introduced in response to a revision of the corresponding international standard, ISIC, to comply with changes in economies’ industry structures. The decision to revise the Swedish Standard Industrial Classification was taken in 2007, after which the old code, SNI 2002, was replaced by SNI 2007.
